Hello, my name is Scott Gabel and I’m a newly ordained lay Buddhist minister and chaplaincy student nearing the end of my Master of Divinity program and currently interning at a local hospital during my summer break.
I have begun writing this blog for two reasons. First, I had been prompted by advisors, educators, and mentors to create a blog as a way of developing an online presence and to begin to articulate my own ministerial voice.
Second, I’ve been journaling for years now as a personal practice, and though it helped helped me become more comfortable with writing, it lacked a sense of direction. I’m looking to publish a post every week in order to address what has been my mind and organize my thoughts in a way that you, the reader, can understand.
Ultimately, this blog will focus on finding my personal voice as a Buddhist minister in a way that is authentic and exploratory. I’d love this blog to connect with anyone who is trying to find their own spiritual voice, for those with an ever deepening relationship in the Buddhadharma, and to those who brave souls who are willing to honestly reflect on their own values as I do the same.
I can’t forecast where all of this will go but I welcome you in following me in this journey!
